Evaluation and Fitting
To obtain a Wearable Therapy™ system, a patient must first be evaluated for effectiveness of the technology in an initial evaluation meeting, typically with a clinician. If the technology proves effective for the client, a follow-up session will be used to fit and customize a personalized system. Finally, although insurance often pays for Wearable Therapy™, some clients choose to self-pay or utilize medical financing services in cases where insurance reimbursement is not obtained.

Reimbursement For Wearable Therapy™

Private Insurance

The Wearable Therapy™System is an emerging technology and as such may not be covered by your insurance.  Most insurance companies will require a pre-approval request before granting authorization.  Axiobionics® will conduct an evaluation to determine whether you are a candidate, then submit a report and Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to your insurance company requesting authorization.  We require payment for our services prior to delivery.

Worker’s Comp

The Wearable Therapy™ System is often covered by worker’s compensation programs throughout the United States.  

VA System

While no VA contract exists at this time, the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in various states have paid for both pain management and NeuroProsthetic Systems.

Vocational Rehabilitation

The Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) has funded the Wearable Therapy™System and often refers patients to Axiobionics®. Other states have followed suit, including:

  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Missouri
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania

If you are disabled and wish to return to employment you may want to contact your local vocational rehab office.  Not only is it possible for them to fund the Wearable Therapy™System, but they are a wonderful resource for funding retraining programs or higher education.
